Dedication

This comic will forever be dedicated to Aunt Sadie - who encouraged my pursuit of childhood dreams, Aunt Mar - who bought me my first real sketchbook and told me "to make something from it", and my father Kenny - who bought me my first comic book (and continued to fuel my obsessive interest week to week)

Location Reference: The DOME

Some reference ideas for the DOME. It should be a very cool location - a combination of a scenic location like Seattle's Needle and the inside of a very trendy bar. Lots of round, curved shapes for the bars, tables to reinforce the motif.

Some rough drawings on the DOME - here are some where there are different floors to the DOME, but I'm leaning toward it being one big open area.

Some ideas on the elevators, which would be located in the center of the DOME, like a giant pillar. Individual elevators are all joined in one "tube" but they would move independently of each other.

Some ideas for the view and shape of the DOME

Plot Breakdown for VIOLET DAWN

AIONIC GUARD PLOT BREAKDOWN

Era of the Film Story: 2124AD

What is the “Cusp of the Era”? Decades after humanity fled a dying Earth and have reestablished civilization in space... a team of super-powered heroes are the only safeguard between extinction and survival.

Place: Space - near Mars

Genre: Sci Fi, survivalist, superhero, space opera

Story 1 Plot: Alíssandra “ICE” Vintersdottir, Captain of the Aionic Guard’s most prestigious team, finds herself in a tailspin after the Aionic Guard Base Ship is attacked and a critical piece of their technology - the Aionic Heart - is stolen. ICE and her team must retrieve the Heart, but doing so starts to unravel unsettling truths about their own existence.

Zeitgeist: What do you do when you realize everything you believe in might be the very thing that destroys you?

Theme: You can’t live in denial forever, eventually you will have to face the truth.

Character Change: Dedication to disillusionment.

Overture:
Prologue: Young Alíssandra is at her mother’s funeral. Greenfield gives the eulogy to a crowd of mostly former Space Crusaders. Alíssandra’s mother was a highly decorated and loved by all commander and recently died from a new form of cancer called Atroposoma. The crowd speculate Alíssandra’s future since her mother’s dead and her father’s imprisoned. Greenfield is adopting her.

Status Quo: Captain Quarters. Present day Alíssandra now goes by “Ice” and like her mother is a highly decorated Captain in the Aionic Guard. ICE is getting ready for the day. Putting on her power BRACER is almost a ritual. She looks at it with reverence.

Today is also the death anniversary of her mother, so she is sadder than normal. It is also the Commemoration of the Space Crusader Memorial Park, a place to honor the fallen including her mother.

While preparing for the day, she is interrupted by a phone call. It’s the prison where her father is. He wants to see her today. Ice’s response is the same as it is every year: no. But the prison director is more insistent than ever. Why should this year be any different? He says it’s the 20th year since her mother’s death and wants to show her something...

Voltage interrupts the call to walk with Ice to training. Voltage is 1st Officer on Ice’s team and her closest friend.

At the training, we meet the rest of Ice’s team and PSION’s (her adopted brother) team. Voltage’s powers are acting strangely in training, her husband Repo notices, but she covers it up.

In training, we also meet Impact, Ice’s love interest for the series. Psion and Voltage notice there is some tension between Impact and Ice.

Meanwhile Greenfield is showing around some Reporters and we meet Meltdown - the fake caterer who has a weird device with him.

After Meltdown and his strange device exit the Security Check Point, all the power in the room goes out.

Sling-shot: After training, Voltage runs a diagnostic test on herself - she has removed her Bracer and we see necrotic, ash-like stains in her forearm. The test results come back and confirm she has Atroposoma. The same disease that killed Ice’s mother.

Meanwhile, Ice meets with Greenfield, he is “charging” himself with the Aionic Heart. He has the original 1.0 version of Aionic Tech embedded in his chest and it no longer charges as it should.

Greenfield asks Ice about tonight - the commemoration... and about her father. Ice loves and respects Greenfield and will do anything to make him proud of her.

PSION interrupts their conversation and Greenfield goes to his desk to get them something special for this evening... the moment is interrupted when the Prison Director once again calls Ice. Psion gets a psychic hint of what’s on Ice’s mind and she leaves Greenfield’s office to return the Prison Director’s call.

Meanwhile, the Defense Guard are still having issues getting the Security Check Point’s power back on, so they call in one of the highest ranked tech specialists - Quake. Quake reroutes the power through the Aionic Heart and the Security Check Point’s power immediately comes back online.

Ice returns to her quarters to call the Prison Director back... but changes her mind. She’s not going to visit her father today. The Guard and her new family mean everything to her.

At the Commemoration, Psion’s team performs the fly-over spectacle and Impact really stands out. Voltage gives Ice a little one on one advice about making time for a life, not knowing how long we have and how work isn’t enough to have a full life. But Voltage is being slightly hypocritical - because where is Repo and her son? She’s come to the party without them. Does Ice confront her on this?

After her exchange with Voltage, Ice ends up at the bar where Impact is sitting. After a brief conversation, Ice leaves the party with Impact, who takes her to her favorite place: the Atom...

Meltdown has setup his device and it’s counting down... meanwhile a mysterious figure has entered base and poisons a Guard.

Inciting Incident: During the COMMEMERATION of the SPACE CRUSADER MEMORIAL PARK, an EMP BOMB goes off which removes the AIONIC GUARD’s powers and knocks out GREENFIELD, who is dependent on the energy... PSION hurries to Greenfield’s office to get the Aionic Heart, but...

Kicker: To make matters worse the AIONIC HEART, which is the central network to the AIONIC TECH, is missing... and is the only thing that can revive GREENFIELD. Psion and Voltage try to use an older Bracer than Psion found in Greenfield’s office, but it only briefly wakes up Greenfield.

Double Kicker: Defense Guard pick up a signal - there is a small ship leaving base, our team follow assuming that that must be the person who stole the HEART.

Plot Point One - Free-fall: The team pursues the thief using the Tracker created by QUAKE and come across a hidden trading post outside of the EOS. We see what the “real” world is like. People live on rations and limited resources... But at the Trading Post there is a market for underground illegal products and things in limited supply... Would Ice want to shut this place down? It’s outside the “rules” of law and order established by Greenfield.

Meanwhile back at base, VOLTAGE and the Guard have tried to restore Greenfield using the back-up technology, but while it works to re-connect the Aionic Tech, it doesn’t wake up Greenfield because his USB’s were fried when they hooked up the small TECHs to him. Quake would be the most qualified for the job, but he’s on the mission. The science division start to work on other solutions.

Shadow has made little progress with Meltdown.

Repo is working with the communication team to get Comms back online.

Quarter Act: During their confrontation with the Thief - Quake is poisoned and the Thief reveals her identity - she is a former Aionic Guard member, someone Impact knows who goes by the name Virosa. VIROSA escapes. Quake’s condition worsens, so Psion, Mirage, and Quake head back to base, while Ice and Impact stay to pursue VIROSA.

Impact fills Ice in on some backstory... but withholds some important information - the nature of her and Virosa’s relationship.

Meanwhile, Psion, Mirage, and Quake return to base. Quake is rushed to the ER - Mirage and Dr Anholts exam Quake, he is in bad shape. Anholts informs her of a Guard who came in earlier with the same symptoms... and died hours later.

Ice holo-calls Voltage from the Trading Post to check on Greenfield...

Meanwhile back at the Trading Post, Ice and Impact barter to get a better ship to pursue Virosa. Impact’s street smart skills really shine while Ice struggles with looking like she isn’t a cop. (Reinforce her life is the Aionic Guard, it’s Ice’s everything.)

Then Psion goes to interrogate Meltdown and puts him through his personal hell to get him to talk. (His absolute worse fear is Virosa poisoning him)

Meltdown reveals Virosa is looking for some place and that’s why she needed the Aionic Heart.

Mid-Act: Virosa arrives at a classified location and takes out the power. The crew inside radio for help.

Honeymoon: Ice and Impact are making headway and Ice is starting to like Impact... they gather a lead and head out. (Maybe connected to Impact’s brother’s backstory paired with Virosa’s backstory clue them in on what Virosa might be after?)

Meanwhile back at base, Psion is working with Repo and the Communication Guard on tracking down the energy stolen from Meltdown’s device when the SOS signal comes through. Psion radios Ice, but Ice and Impact already know and are nearing the Research Station.

They see a large ship leave Iola. They think it’s the crew (but really it’s the bad guys stealing all the data).

Psion and the available team (everyone but Mirage and Quake) head to Iola to meet Ice and Impact.

Ice and Impact start to explore Iola and see Virosa’s ship. Impact tries to reason with Virosa, but it doesn’t work and Impact is subdued. Ice makes her way onto Virosa’s ship... and the small ship takes off just as Psion and the rest of the team arrive.

Meanwhile Mirage starts to figure out a way to help Quake...

Sling-shot pay-off: Voltage and Repo go to restore power to the ship, but Voltage has a strange interaction with the control panel (because of Atroposoma)... the power is restored but doing so also reveals all the bodies of Iola’s crew. They didn’t escape, they were killed.

Repo confronts Voltage - what’s going on with her? Why is she being weird and why are her powers wonky? She’s afraid to tell him.

Plot Point 2 – Worst of the Worse: Ice fights Virosa and Impact gets hit with a poisonous blast. Maybe here Ice realizes Impact has lied about her relationship with Virosa - what’s your deal with her anyway? Ice tries to make a deal with Virosa to get the Aionic Heart back and Virosa tells Ice the truth about Aionic Tech, that it causes ATROPOSOMA and is responsible for their mother’s deaths. She also hints at her knowledge of Ice’s father - how is he involved in all this? Justice for their mother’s. Virosa gets Ice distracted and kicks her out of the airlock.

Meanwhile... not only is Iola full of the bodies of the dead scientists, but it’s rigged to blow... problem is, Voltage’s power mishap has got her fused with the control panel and she’s unable to escape.

(Psion tracks down the Aionic Heart? Or does Virosa have it?)

Climax: Mirage has found a way to cure Quake... And now Quake can fix Greenfield’s USBs. (Alt 1: and they have an idea how to use Meltdown’s device to wake Greenfield.)

Virosa cures Impact. Impact escapes and rescues Ice, who has transformed into Ice-form...

Ice and Impact team up to take down Virosa. Once successful, Ice and Impact head to Iola with a captured Virosa.

Repo frees Voltage, but she knows something is wrong... her power having been connected to the “bomb” has turned her slightly unstable power into incredibly unstable... it’s time to tell Repo the truth... she is the bomb... she removes her bracer to show him the disease. No, he can’t leave her - Shadow grabs him... I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you.. I needed to believe the lie, that there wasn’t anything wrong, I’m so sorry... Maria please, we can find a way... There isn’t, if I go with you, you’ll die.

Ice arrives on Iola right before Voltage explodes. Impact’s ship is knocked back - freeing Virosa. Ice looks for the team, Psion is catatonic - having linked to Voltage as she exploded (set up: confronting worse fears can make you catatonic). Shadow is okay and brings Psion to the ship while Ice looks for Repo and Voltage... Repo is critically injured... and Voltage is gone, just the ashen remains of her remain... and her BRACER. Ice picks up the Bracer...

Meanwhile Impact joy-rides through space to catch Virosa...

Ice gets the ship and team head toward Impact, who has caught Virosa. Ice and Impact have a moment. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about our past, I’m--what’s wrong? Ice cries.

Resolution: The team arrive back at base... Ice returns the Aionic Heart to Greenfield and connects him to the power. But doesn’t say a word to him and leaves her Aionic Bracer on the chair next to his hospital bed.

(Alt 1: Without the Aionic Heart, Mirage and Quake use the siphoning tech to channel energy to Greenfield. Ice stands outside the room... leaving behind her Bracer.)

Impact checks in on prisoner Virosa.

Shadow is with Sam to see Repo and Psion.

Meanwhile the Communication Guard finally track down the stolen energy - it was sent to 5 prisons, including the one Ice’s father is at.

Epilogue: Ice visits her mother’s grave at the Space Crusader Memorial Park. Her father shows up.
